Why Vegan Skincare Matters

Posted by Carson Bruner on

There’s a common misconception that cruelty-free and vegan mean the same thing when it comes to skincare. While they’re both important aspects that determine a company’s values and ethics — these terms mean different things. When a product is labeled as cruelty-free, this means that no animals were harmed throughout the process of creating and manufacturing the product. Vegan products are those that contain no animal-based ingredients or by-products. Here are three major reasons you should opt for vegan skincare products:

1. It's Great for Your Skin!

Vegan products are made with natural and plant-based ingredients that will benefit your skin. Madi Bella organic skin care is thoughtfully made with superfood ingredients — and no harsh chemicals. Skincare products are supposed to leave your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Choosing vegan products will ensure that you’re showing the Earth’s animals love and respect while minimizing your carbon footprint (our recycled packaging also helps with that).

2. It's Jam-Packed With Vitamins and Minerals

When choosing skincare products to create the best skincare routine for your skin type, it’s critical to understand which vitamins and minerals will benefit your skin. Dr. Debra Jaliman, a board-certified New York City dermatologist and author, spoke to Today about the added benefit of vegan skincare products: “Vegan skin care could be better for you especially if you have sensitive skin. While many of the nonvegan ingredients are not harmful, when you use vegan products you probably are getting more vitamins and minerals from the ingredients that come from plants.”

3. There Are No Animal By-Products

Not only does it sound gross to put animal by-products like gelatin from pig’s skin or extracts from dead insects on our skin, but it’s also something that feels unethical to many (including everyone at Madi Bella). Avoiding animal by-products in your skincare routine is a great way to show your skin (and animals) some love; animal by-products aren’t exactly great for our skin’s health, anyway. People are beginning to take notice of what’s in their skincare products now more than ever — and we love it.
